21 October 2020 – This report highlights the opportunities and future potential of digital technologies to tackle some of healthcare’s most difficult challenges. And the importance of technology in bridging the gap between the demand for healthcare and the capacity of healthcare services to meet that demand.
From November 2017 to October 2018 there were an estimated 307 million GP appointments with 82% taking place face to face. Doctorlink, working with NHS England to relieve pressure on GP practices, designed an app to integrate with GP practices and help them manage demand while improving the patient primary care experience. In October 2018, NHS London announced the roll out of Doctorlink’s clinical triage service across the South West London Health and Care Partnership covering 1.6 million patients.
The adoption of digital solutions are starting to change the way patients interact with the healthcare systems. And within the next 5 years healthcare is likely to be digital first, primary care led.
